Theme: YOUR ATTITUDE DETERMINES YOUR ALTITUDE!
You are the king and queen in a kingdom of unlimited power and potential; your mind. Your ability to achieve a life of staggering success or live a life of unspeakable squalor and disappointment depends on one single choice. That single choice is made every hour of every day you live. That single choice determines your joy, your peace, your quality of your marriage, your professional success, the happiness and well-being of your children, and most importantly, the eternal destiny of your soul. That single choice will determine your stress factor. It will determine your ability to turn hate into love, rejection into accomplishment, and fear into triumph. That single choice is how you choose to react to what has been done to you in the past or being done to you right now. Your attitude will determine your success in life. I hope that I am talking to somebody today.
The Bible is the road map for the mind and has much to say concerning what we allow ourselves to think. In fact, the Bible is the constitution of Christian civilization.
The Bible says, Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
The truth is what we think, is what we become, where we have kept our minds is where we are; our thoughts shape our behavior, and what we do is what we think. You have to make up your mind, how are you going to face the day? There are only two kinds of attitudes – good ones and bad ones.
Your attitude is a choice. Let me give my definition of an attitude in a series of four statements.
1). Your attitude is an inward feeling expressed by outward behavior. Your attitude is seen by all without you saying a word.
2). Your attitude is the advance man of your true self. The roots of your attitude are hidden, but its fruit is always visible.
3). Your attitude is your best friend or your worst enemy. It draws people to you or repels people from you.
4). Your attitude determines the quality of your relations with your friend, your relatives, your employer, and God Almighty. You can choose to change your attitude. Your Attitude is a Choice! You choose your attitude every morning when you get up. King David said, This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24) If you woke up this morning and did not find your picture in the obituary column, get happy. Choose to have a good attitude as soon as you get up.
The past is the past – not the present! The best thing you can do to guarantee your success in life is to forget the past. The apostle Paul gave some of the greatest advice a mortal can accept when he said, Forgetting those things which are behind. (Phil. 3:13) Don’t park by yesterday’s accomplishments or yesterday’s failures. Remember that it is impossible to succeed without experiencing failure. A man who never failed is man who never accomplished anything.
YOUR ATTITUDE DETERMINES YOUR ALTITUDE. Success comes in Cans. Paul said, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13) Your attitude determines your attainments. Compare the life of Doubting Thomas to the life of the apostle Paul. Saul never met Jesus. He never had the opportunities that Doubting Thomas had to see the miracles, to hear the Sermon on the Mount, or to see the dead walk out of the graves. After Saul became a Christian, he carried the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the Mediterranean basin. Everywhere he went, the New Testament church was established. Paul became the author of 13 books in the New Testament. All of this was accomplished by a man who never met Christ in the flesh, while another man, Doubting Thomas, who lived with Jesus, who ate with Him, who touched Him accomplished virtually nothing. Your attitude determines your attainments.
